- Single-IP Server Farm.

During the summer of 1998 at HPLabs, I designed and implemented a tier of
single-ip software that enables
multiple machines to appear as a single logical (web) server from the
clients' view, thus increasing and balancing the load. The work produced
valuable experiences concerning distributed state management, fine-grained load
balancing, its overhead, inside-the-kernel network programming details, etc.
- SSL and SET, Internet Commerce.

During the summer of 1997 at HPLabs, I studied SSL (secure socket layer) on http
connections and tried a series of techinques to improve the web
servers' throughput, e.g. performance breakdown, http
keepalive and session cache. I also investigated SET
(secure electronic transaction) protocol suite, proposed a hybrid SET
that's more cost-effective.
- Secure Tunnel, Network Firewall.

Nowadays intranets of many corporations and research labs
are strictly protected by firewalls.
Secure tunnel, developed in DSG, allows a machine that's physically outside the
firewall to appear inside so that the user is able to connect to
his/her office from home or laptop.
Secure tunnel uses encryption, IP encapsulation and IP filtering to achieve this goal.
